Our list of Frequently Asked Questions is a work in progress, so if you do not find what you need here, please submit your question by email to LionsUniv@gmail.com.  We will respond directly and update the FAQs as appropriate.

Lions University is brought to Lions by Lions, not Lions Clubs International staff. We will respond as soon as possible, but please understand if it takes a couple days due to our personal, professional, and other Lions commitments.  Thanks!

FAQs are divided into three categories about Lions University:  General Program Information, Completing Courses, and Course Quizzes

General questions about the Lions University Program:

  • How do I register for Lions University?

** Registration for Lions University is different than registering for the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum**

In the right box near the top, click the link to Register for a Lions University account. Or, the direct link is: http://www.lionsuniversity.org/my-account/membership-levels/

Click the “Select” button next to the free Lions University Student membership level

Complete all the required information and click the “Submit and Confirm” button. Note that an email address can only be used on one member account.

To participate in Lions University, register for a free account, then register for live webinars or watch video recordings after they are conducted and take the quiz for each course. Once you pass the quiz, your results are emailed and your profile is updated to show which courses have been completed.

  • What is the cost to participate in Lions University?

There is NO cost to participate in the courses offered by Lions University!  The technology infrastructure used to bring you Lions University is budgeted through the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum.  Also, none of your membership dues are used for this service, provided for Lions, by Lions.

However, should you choose to complete any of the three levels of Programs offered by Lions University (Bachelor’s for Club Leadership, Master’s for District Leadership, and Doctorate for Training Adults), there may be costs associated with attending other Lions events (such as the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum and Leadership Institutes) required to complete the Program(s).

  • Can I advance directly to the Master’s Program if I have been Club President?

You may complete courses at any of the levels as they are offered and/or available.  However, for recognition purposes, completing the Bachelor’s Program is a requirement to be eligible for recognition at the Master’s level.  Likewise, completing the Master’s Program is a requirement to be eligible for recognition at the Doctorate level.

Lions University is built upon three progressive levels: (1) Bachelor’s Program to successfully lead Lions Clubs, (2) Master’s Program to successfully take on leadership roles at the District level, and (3) Doctorate Program to help develop facilitators and trainers for adult learning.

All of the work we do as Lions starts at the Club level.  Even if you have been a Club, District, or International officer, you are a member of a Lions Club first. Therefore, our role in supporting the success of our own Lions Club is ongoing.

  • Can I skip to the Doctorate Program if I have been District Governor?

As a Past District Governor, you role in supporting and contributing to the success of your Lions Club and your District is ongoing, and we encourage your growth in these areas to be ongoing as well.

  • Is there a time limit to complete a Program?

There is not a time limit to complete the courses our requirements for any of the programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate).  You can take the courses at any time.  Regarding the Leadership events:

For all three programs, credited USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum attendance begins with 2014 and going forward.

For the Master’s Program requirement of attending a Lions Leadership Institute, you may credit a regional or LCI Institute or District Governor-Elect School from any point in your Lions career.

For the Doctorate Program requirement of attending a Faculty Development Institute, you may credit your participation at any point in your Lions career.

  • How do I get credit to “graduate”?
    Log in to http://www.LionsUniversity.org
Under “My Account” on the menu bar, select the appropriate program (i.e. “My Bachelors Program Courses”)
The first box on the page is where you apply for Program Credit.
    • Click the link in the box to expand the options
    • Click the link associated with each of the units and submit your answers to the question listed.
This is what gets submitted to the leadership team in order to “trigger” that someone is ready to complete a part of the program or all of it.
The leadership team then verifies the information.
  • What happens when I complete a program?

This is not a degree program like a true college or university. However, there will be special recognition for those Lions who complete the requirements at each progressive level:  Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate programs.

Questions about Courses:

  • How do I register or take courses?

To participate in Lions University courses, register for a free account (and/or login in to your account).

Navigate to the calendar – if future webinars have been scheduled, a link to the GoTo Webinar will be available.  By registering for the webinar, you will receive a login link and reminder emails.

If a webinar is not offered, you can navigate to the individual course pages and view video recordings of a past webinar or live seminar.

Then advance to the quiz unit and take the quiz.  70% is required for passing.

Once you pass the quiz, you will receive an email, you can download a certificate, and your profile is updated to show which courses have been completed.

  • What if I am unable to participate in the webinar at the date and time being offered?

If you are not able to attend the live webinars, a video will be made available from the course page.

Because we are starting with so many topics, we are targeting to offer the initial webinar for each course and have the videos available. Later, we will return to offer repeat live webinars.

  • Will webinars be offered at more than one time?

Yes.  Our focus is on scheduling one webinar for each topic to make as much content of interest to Lions available as soon as possible.  Repeating sessions will be offered when changes are needed and/or to periodically freshen the content.

Videos of each webinar will be available on the course page.

  • How do I get credit for completing a course?

Official credit is recorded when you complete the course quiz.  The quizzes are based on course content, which can be attained by:  participation in the live webinar, viewing the recording of the webinar, or participating in a live district or multiple district event where the Lions University material is used.

  • How do I verify my profile shows I completed a course?

Select “My Account” from the menu.

Then go to the applicable program (My Bachelor’s Program Courses, My Master’s Program Courses, or My Doctorate Program Courses).

There you will see your progress on all available courses, as well as applying for credit toward Program completion.

  • When can I take the quiz?

You can take the quizzes at any time.  A course quiz is available if a link is included on the course page.
